Rock climbing is an outdoor activity, which can be described as exciting, challenging and adventurous. In 2017, a serious start was made with the development of rock climbing on Curacao. This development involves identifying climbing potential areas, making arrangements with the land owners and managers, cleaning and bolting lines and sharing information with the climbing community.
This is done for the enjoyment of all climbers, both local and visiting from abroad. Curacao climbing caters for different skill levels, from basic to advanced; and different styles, including single pitch sports climbing, multi pitch climbing, trad climbing and bouldering. The development of rock climbing also provides an opportunity for economic growth for tourism.
